As you can see, we just launched our
website! After a long overdue gestation period, we have arrived on the
great series of tubes. The site is still being constructed, so stop by
often to check out our new features.
What You Can Do To Help:
In this space, we'll be continually posting small tasks that you can do to help contribute to the growth of the Alternative Arts Association and the local arts community in general.
For example:
Do you have access to a printer at work that you can access to run off a few flyers?
Have a knack for doodling, cartooning or graphic design?
Have a piece of useful equipment (e.g. a sewing machine, an extra bike, some art supplies, an old printer etc....) that you're not using and would be willing to loan to us?
Keep an eye out for regular updates and please visit the contact page if you have any ideas or suggestions. This organization is run by local artists, for local artists. It is your continuing support that makes this possible. Thanks everyone!

directly to benefit our local arts community. Be there or be missing out. See
you on the dance-floor. And keep an eye out for the Alternative Arts
Association's season-long series of events, kicking off at Brooklyn's
world-famous Public Assembly, and lacing it's way around this beautiful city,
from our gala showing at downtown Manhattan's Brecht Forum to AAA's glorious
homecoming at Astoria's own Hell gate Social. This summer, we're all over this
piece!
Attention all writers! The Alternative Arts Association has a workshop for you.
In
keeping with The Alternative Arts Association’s mission for creating a
supportive community of working artists, we are hosting a writer’s
workshop on Wednesday, June 3rd. We are hoping to foster a creative
environment where writers feel free to give and receive criticism.
We
want to work with all forms of writing including but not limited to: poetry, spoken work, song
lyrics, plays, novels, children’s books and essays.
This is an open meeting, so you do not need to have been associated with us in the past.
You do not
even have to have anything you are currently working on.
Come and check
us out!
If
you have a piece you would like to have work shopped, please bring at
least 10-15 copies so that all in attendance can have a copy to read,
critique and reference.
Feel free to bring food and booze to share with the group. We will be providing what we can.
The workshop will take place at 8pm sharp on Wednesday, June 3rd.
